By a digital twin we mean a simulation model with which we can map and investigate a physical process. We have written a textbook on the creation of digital twins in German language, which can be obtained from Amazon. There is a detailed description of how to proceed if you also want to create a model of a technical system. The english version of the textbook can be found here:
- Rückert, F.U.; Sauer, M.; Liimatainen, T.; Hübner, D.H.: Digital Twin Development: An Introduction to Simcenter Amesim; Springer Cham; Published: 12 March 2023; ISBN 978-3-031-25691-2; https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-031-25692-9
Currently we work on the English version of this textbook with additional examples and an overview how to connet the twins with a neural network. The title of the new textbook will be "Digital Twin Development - An Introduction to Simcenter Amesim". Here you can see a digital twin for a cyclic process from the Thermodynamics module at htw saar.
To create such a model, we usually use the simulation tool Simcenter Amesim. In our new textbook we will present much more of such digital twins, e.g. we can also create chassis simulations for automobiles or a ventilation system for houses.
